Südkabel accessories for VPE high-voltage technology are among the technical pioneers. In 1995, for example, the cable joint for 400 kV cables passed the world’s first CIGRÉ recommendations. And our pluggable compact terminations for 550 kV are a good example of the development of safe, environmentally friendly and and installation-friendly accessories systems.

Südkabel’s accessories are crucial components for XLPE-insulated high-voltage and extra-high-voltage cables. Here, too, Südkabel’s new developments were groundbreaking.

These include, for example, the cable joint for 400 kV XLPE insulated cables, which successfully passed the world’s first prequalification according to Cigré test recommendations in 1995.

The pluggable compact terminations are based on this advanced design. They are a good example of how we consistently develop safe and easy-to-assemble accessories for XLPE-insulated high-voltage and extra-high-voltage cables.

They are suitable for almost all types of XLPE insulated cables with a wide variety of conductors, shields, sheaths and armor.

Up to 170 kV, Südkabel accessories can also be mounted on EPR insulation. The decoupling of optical fibers (FOC) in the cable shield is optionally possible in all types of accessories. Accessories for high-voltage applications can be equipped with integrated sensors for partial discharge measurement. All cable accessories are designed for a long life service, as it is also expected of power cables.
