Testing Takes Priority

Before commissioning, the cable systems we install undergo testing, typically in accordance with the relevant specifications for XLPE-insulated high- and extra-high voltage cables. These tests include DC voltage testing of the cable sheath and/or AC voltage testing of the cable insulation. For extra-high voltage installations, partial discharge tests on the installed accessories are performed as needed.

With its own on-site resonance test facility, Südkabel can generate voltages of up to 520 kV, enabling the testing of cable systems up to Um = 550 kV in compliance with international, national, and customer-specific standards.
