Your tasks

• Setting up and operating conventional lathes to produce components to exact specifications.
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings, plans and work orders.
• Adjusting cutting tools, speeds and feeds to achieve optimum machining results.
• Checking manufactured parts using measuring instruments such as callipers, micrometers and gauges.
• Comply with safety regulations and workplace procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to increase production efficiency.

Qualifications

• Completed training as a lathe operator or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience as a lathe operator on non-CNC lathes.
• Sound knowledge of the use of manual lathes and other machine tools.
• Knowledge of metal properties, cutting speeds and machining techniques.
• Problem solving skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Team player: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
